Superintendent Report

January 8, 2020

When January arrives in the course of a school year, administration adds an important component to the focus. Our focus continues on assuring the current year is going strong while

expanding the focus to begin preparing for the next school year. This expanded focus starts with

the budget process, programmatic needs, and then the staffing required to make it happen.

This is a very critical administrative responsibility that both building and district office administrators must perform at a high level. It’s an exciting time focused on today while solidifying the vision for our future based on the Four Characteristics of Improved School Districts: 1. Effective leadership 2. quality teaching and learning 3. system-wide improvement and 4. clear and collaborative relationships.

In tying the Superintendent’s work to the characteristics, December 2019 highlights were:

  • On-going conversations with YMCA leadership regarding outdoor education.  (1,2,3,4)
  • Upper Rogue Chamber of Commerce.  (1,4)
  • Mentoring aspiring and practicing educational leaders.  (1,2,3,4)
  • Wreath laying at the covered bridge.  (1,4)

  • Holiday celebrations with TRE, transportation, DLT, and the district office.  (1,4)
  • Meetings with past and present school board members.  (1,4)
  • A long winter’s nap!  (priceless!!)

Second semester is fast approaching and along with it comes an urgency to evaluate how our students are progressing so that we can make any necessary adjustments for second semester to be more successful.  Right alongside, district leadership is predicting, analyzing, and planning the direction for the 2020-21 school year. It’s an exciting, fast-paced time!!

Respectfully, Cynda S. Rickert
